About Brown Finch Films
Brown Finch Films was created to organize and collaborate the projects of local Chicago documentary filmmakers of artistic, historic, and inspiring merit.
Michelle Kaffko: Michelle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Cinema Studies with a minor in Anthropology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in which she graduated with High Distinction from her department after writing her final thesis on cinematic psychoanalysis, images, and meaning in films. She has been a still photographer for over 12 years, and a filmmaker in Chicago for 5 years. Selected credits include Chicago Swingers (Splitpillow, 2007) Nice Threads (2006), Singing is Believing (2006), Soldier (UPressPlay, 2005), documentary Save Our School (2005), and Brushfires (Splitpillow, 2004). She is a member of Women in Film Chicago, The Society for Cinema and Media Studies, UPressPlay (Chicago filmmaking group), Splitpillow (Chicago filmmaking group), the International Women’s Writing Guild, and the International Documentary Association. michelle@brownfinchfilms.com
Laura Zinger: Laura has a Bachelor’s of Liberal Arts and Sciences Degree in English Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has produced several documentaries and television shows as an Associate Producer at Naperville Community Television Channel 17. She has taught filmmaking courses at Studio D, Naperville, and the College of Dupage. Laura has also worked at several companies including Pretty Pictures, a small production company which was acquired by Universal Studios, MGM Studios, and MOJO, a post-production trailer house. She is currently in production of the feature documentary, Proceed and Be Bold, also with Michelle Kaffko. laura@brownfinchfilms.com
